Click one of the Moment Notes keys in the Stream Deck app to see that panel. Help explains each status and recovery action.

Moment Notes 0.1.3.0 for Windows, Stream Deck and OBS Studio on the same PC.

First safe checks

SymptomFirst safe check
Cannot connectOBS running on this PC; WebSocket enabled; matching port/password. Disconnect before editing, wait for Settings saved, then Connect.
Connected, but asks for a new takeConnect before recording. Let OBS finish the current recording, then start a fresh one after readiness.
Marker refusedCheck paused, split, offline, uncertain timing or a slow-response message. Refused presses are not queued for later.
Settings did not saveRead the settings message. Wait until the recording finishes, correct the field and edit again. Unsaved text is not a saved setting.
OBS password cannot unlockDisconnect; re-enter the current OBS password and wait for the save. Do not paste an encrypted value from a settings file.
Note saved, export needs retryFix free space/folder access, then Open notes. Do not create a duplicate marker.
Storage needs recoveryPreserve a copy of the affected take. When idle, fix access/free space and Retry note recovery. Use a new empty notes folder to continue separately if necessary.
Existing library filename conflictPreserve the existing file. Choose a new notes folder, or rename the unrelated file yourself after checking what it is. The plugin refuses to overwrite it.

Reversible setup reset

Use this for an unreadable or invalid saved setup, not as a first response to a damaged note journal. A setup reset does not repair note files.

  1. Note the current notes-folder location if visible. Finish any OBS recording when convenient and click Disconnect if the panel allows it.
  2. Quit Stream Deck using its tray menu. Confirm it is closed before changing files. Merely closing its window may leave the plugin running.
  3. Open %LOCALAPPDATA% in File Explorer. Rename the MomentNotes folder to a unique backup name, such as MomentNotes-setup-backup-YYYY-MM-DD. Keep that backup private; it can contain protected credentials. Do not alter your separate notes folder or any other application folder.
  4. Reopen Stream Deck. Set up Moment Notes again using the intended notes folder and current OBS port/password. A blank password does not recover one from the renamed backup. Wait for saved confirmation, then Connect before starting a fresh recording.

Keep the backup until the new setup works. If a note-recovery warning appears after selecting the old notes folder, use the storage guidance in Help; repeatedly resetting setup will not fix it. Do not hand-edit, replace or delete a journal to bypass a warning. See Privacy when you deliberately want to erase backups rather than preserve them.

Never include passwords, settings.json, settings backups, full journals, private recordings or complete Stream Deck/OBS configuration exports in an initial report. Remove usernames, private paths, project names and confidential text from screenshots. If more evidence is needed, we will agree on a small synthetic example before you share anything further. Keep originals and backups on your own PC.
